Listing of car rental companies in Mexico

Well, you figure you need a means of transportation while in Mexico, either for business or pleasure, no problem, there are plenty of car rental companies for you to choose from, just a few things to remember, south of the border, even US rental companies work differently than in the states. You should carefully  check the vehicle before you sign the contract, inside and out, if the vehicle has a dent or scratch or something is malfunctioning you must let the car rental company know about it and they will fill out a special form they have for that purpose.  They will check the car very carefully too, when you return it, and will charge your credit card for any damages they find if they were not pointed out at the time of rental. Also remember to buy insurance, as many US or Canada insurance companies, won’t cover you in Mexico. And a last tip, Car rental companies in Mexico will block an amount close to the value of the car you are renting from your credit card, when you return the vehicle, they will free that money from your card, sometimes immediately but sometimes it may take up to a week..! And if you don’t have enough credit in your card, they won’t rent you a vehicle at all, take this into account, you don’t want to be out of credit while on vacation,  business or both.
